Acupuncture:
The term ‚acupuncture‘ comes from
the Latin words:
acus: needle and pungere: to prick
In Mandarin Chinese,
acupuncture means针灸 zhen jiu, zhen 针meaning needle, and jiu 灸 meaning
moxibustion.
针, zhen describes the stimulation of acupuncture points by means of the
needle. If necessary, the stimulation will be intensified with the help
of moxibustion or electroacupuncture.
灸, jiu describes the stimulation of acupuncture
points by means of moxibustion.
The dried plant of Artemisia princeps will be burned above the skin or
placed on an acupuncture needle.
